AMP (Arts & Mentoring Project)

AMP (Arts & Mentoring Project) is organizing a community music making group as part of our summer programming. Depending on instrumentation, the group could be a concert band, orchestra, rock band, jazz band, or miscellaneous music group and definitely includes everything from vocalists to banjos to trumpets to violins. If you have interest in participating in the group please register here https://forms.gle/ZEXWUhN4We6pfPx96

Questions about AMP can be directed to Reggie Gorter at 605-695-8626 or pipestoneamp@gmail.com

Some common questions we are receiving are the following:

Who is directing? At this time, it is Dr. Zachary Ploeger, local PAS teacher and graduate of Pipestone High.

What ages can participate? Around Junior High School through adult (contact Reggie for age exceptions) be proficient enough to not need lessons on the spot but still stretch yourself as a musician.

Do I have to live in Pipestone or have graduated from Pipestone? NO! This is not an exclusive alumni group. It is a music group for those who want to have the experience of making music as a community; low stress, high enjoyment. You may travel from as far as you wish to participate.

When are rehearsals? TBD; rehearsal day, time, & location will be determined based on the participants. What performances are planned? We'd love to get something short and sweet ready for Water Tower Days but this festival is right around the corner so this is iffy. The likely maiden performance will be the Twilight Concert at AMP's Arts Under the Stars event July 22-24 at the Hiawatha Pageant Park in Pipestone www.artsandmentoringproject.org.

Beyond that, future public performances will be determined by the group. The photos in this on this AMP website are early offerings of community music making in Pipestone. Petersen's Imperial Ladies Band, Petersen's Imperial Male Band, and the group we plan to model after, the Pipestone City Orchestra, we will be co-ed!

We look forward to music making with those outside and inside our community!
